OBJETIVO

El grupo de investigación en Diabetis i Enfermedades Metabólicas Asociadas (DIAMET) es un grupo de investigación multidisciplinar y dinámico centrado en el estudio de los transtornos metabólicos asociados a la morbiliadad de la diabetis mellitus i de la obesudad. El grupo está liderado por la doctora Sonia Fernández-Veledo y el doctor Joan Vendrell y está integrado por investigadores clínicos y básicos, técnicos y personal de soporte administrativo.

El grupo pertenece al Instituto de investigación Pere Virgili (IISPV9 y al Hospital Universitari de Tarragona Joan XXIII (HJ23) y está integrado en una red nacional de estudio de la diabetis CIBERdem, iniciada el 2008 por el Instituto de Salud Carlos III. Así mismo, el grupo es reconocido des del 2009 como grupo consolidado por la Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR) de la Generalitat de Catalunya – Universitat Rovira i Virgili.

DIAMET cuenta con una amplia experiencia en la formación de estudiantes de grado, estudiantes de postgrado y formación postdoctoral, tanto en ciencias clínicas como básicas. El grupo integra investigadores de diferentes programas de prestigio competitivos como el Miguel Servet y el ramón y Cajal, ayudas postdoctorales júniors (Sara Borrell y Juan de la Cierva) y contratos de formación especializada en salud de Río Hortega. Además, el grupo ha establecido programas de formación de becas en laboratorios extranjeros de prestigiosos grupos de investigación en Europa y EUA.
