Research Technician – INSIGHT Project

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pere Virgili Institute for Health Research (IISPV) is an institution that integrates research in the field of biomedicine in the “Camp de Tarragona” and the “Terres de l’Ebre”. The IISPV is the instrument that the university hospitals of both health regions have been endowed with (Joan XXIII University Hospital of Tarragona, Verge de la Cinta Hospital of Tortosa, Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital, Institut Pere Mata University Hospital of Reus) and Rovira and Virgili University, in order to bring together and manage biomedical research and innovation in the territory.

The INSIGHT project aims to develop predictive tools for early identification of psychotic symptoms by combining genomic and proteomic data. This research is a collaborative effort involving large-scale data handling, proteomic profiling, and bioinformatics analysis to advance understanding and prediction of psychotic disorders.

The INSIGHT project is funded by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and cofunded by the European Union.

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Technician to support the INSIGHT project. The successful candidate will manage, process, and analyse genomic and proteomic data to ensure the smooth operation of research activities and assist in maintaining rigorous data quality standards.

 

PROFILE OF THE CANDIDATE

  • Vocational Training (Formación Profesional, F.P) or Bachelor’s degree in the field of Bioinformatics or Data analysis (or related field).

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Competence in data analysis tools (R, Python) and database management.
  • Knowledge in statistics and programming.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

 

IT WILL BE VALUED

  • Ability for personal relationships.
  • Previous experience of in the field of genetics or proteomics.
  • Complementary training in Biology.
  • Motivation, creativity, initiative and proactive attitude.
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Commitment to quality, to the optimization of resources and to the achievement of results.
  • Previous experience in similar projects.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  • Selection of CVs: Suitable and unsuitable CVs will be identified according to the requirements. Applicants who do not meet the requirements indicated in the point profile of the person and requirements will not move on to the next phase.
  • CV assessment: Assessment of CVs up to a maximum score of 40 points.
  • Written letter of motivation: Attach to the CV a letter of motivation with a maximum length of 2500 characters with spaces. With a maximum score of 10 points.

To access the interview phase, it is necessary to have obtained a minimum score of 25 points in the sum of the scores of the assessment of the CV and motivation letter.

  • Personal interview. With a maximum score of 50 points.

Condicions laborals

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Type of working day: Full.
  • Physical place of work: Faculty of Medicine of Reus.
  • Contract: Indefinite linked to scientific-technical activities for the INSIGHT project, funded by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and cofunded by the European Union (approximate duration of 2,5 years).
  • Remuneration: According to ISCIII criteria
  • Approximate incorporation: February of 2025.
