El grup Micologia i Microbiologia Ambiental és un grup multidisciplinari que té com a objectiu conèixer la biodiversitat de fongs i bacteris, caracteritzar els mecanismes que  intervenen en la seva patogenicitat i el disseny de noves estratègies terapèutiques.

Aïllament, caracterització (morfològica i molecular), i taxonomia de fongs d’interès clínic i ambiental.

– Estudi de la biodiversitat fúngica en ambients terrestres (sòls i material vegetal) i aquàtics (sediments fluvials i marins) en la recerca de microorganismes com a bioindicadors de qualitat ambiental.

Modelització d’infeccions per fongs en petits rosegadors per assajos de virulència fúngica i tractaments experimentals. Tècniques histològiques per al diagnòstic d’infeccions fúngiques.
