Metabolomics Interdisciplinary Lab (MiL@b)


The Metabolomics Platform (PM), created in 2007, is a joint research infrastructure between CIBERDEM and the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) for the provision of technological services in the field of metabolomics. The PM is also part of the IISPV. The main objective is to work as a laboratory integrated by the CIBERDEM groups, the CIBER centers and the IISPV, helping them to design the metabolomics experiments, perform the experiments, process the data and evaluate the results.

PM has access to state-of-the-art analytical equipment in mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance, which allow large-scale analysis of biological samples. The use of advanced statistics, chemometry, and multivariate algorithms allows a high set of experimental data to be transformed into metabolic profiles and ultimately into clinical information. The experimental data are processed by the platform team, facilitating the interpretation of the results and providing solid, relevant and useful clinical conclusions for the different research groups.
