ASPECTOS BIOLÓGICOS GENÉTICA
OBJETIVO

La Unidad de Investigación Biomédica está dirigida por el Prof. Jorge Joven y el Dr. Jordi Camps, y cuenta con la experiencia de tres colaboradores séniors y cuatro investigadores postdoctorales, además, tres estudiantes están haciendo su tesis doctoral. La Unidad se ha financiado de manera ininterrumpida con la misión y la visión de hacer investigación básica y clínica con transferencia efectiva a la práctica clínica. Los proyectos actuales son investigar enfermedades no transmisibles como la obesidad mórbida y las enfermedades hepáticas, las enfermedades cardiovasculares, el cáncer y las infecciones del trato urinario, la relación de las cuales entre metabolismo, oxidación e inflamación se está estudiando. En concreto, se ha estudiado el papel de los marcadores de inflamación y oxidación, el uso de compuestos naturales para el tratamiento de patologías asociadas a la obesidad, así como la naturaleza y el origen de los trastornos metabólicos mediante técnicas cromatográficas. Actualmente, el Instituto de Salud Carlos III y El Maratón de TV3 son las dos entidades principales que financian los proyectos en curso.
