Job description

The Pere Virgili Institute for Health Research (IISPV) is an institution that integrates research in the field of biomedicine in the “Camp de Tarragona” and the “Terres de l’Ebre.” The IISPV is the instrument that the university hospitals of both health regions have been endowed with (Joan XXIII University Hospital of Tarragona, Verge de la Cinta Hospital of Tortosa, Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital, Institut Pere Mata University Hospital of Reus) and Rovira and Virgili University, to bring together and manage biomedical research and innovation in the territory.

 

The IISPV will incorporate a laboratory manager technician.

 

The selected candidate will perform the following tasks:

  • Manipulation of biological samples
  • Make laboratory orders and purchases.
  • Maintenance and management of the database
  • Quality control
  • Equipment calibration
  • Cell culture techniques
  • Molecular Biology Techniques
  • Methods of Pathological Anatomy and Cytology
  • Conventional, inverted, and fluorescence microscopy.
  • Biochemical Techniques
  • Assistance to animal experimentation.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE & REQUIREMENTS

  • Education as Laboratory Technician or equivalent.
  • Minimum demonstrable experience of 5 years as a laboratory technician.
  • Animal experimentation course (B, C certification)

 

IT WILL BE VALUED

  • Experience as a Lab manager (Order management, laboratory organization, preparation of solutions, and implementation of new experimental protocols
  • Previous experience working as a technician in research organizations.
  • Familiarity with biomedical research and animal models
  • Experience working with cell lines and primary cultures associated with studying physiological functions of adipose tissue, liver, and pancreas, among others (e.g., adipocytes, mesenchymal stem cells, PBMCs, macrophages, hepatocytes, pancreatic beta-cells, endothelial cells, etc.)
  • Experience in the following biochemistry techniques: ELISAs, colorimetric and fluorometric kits, protein extraction and protein quantification for Western blot, qPCR, cloning techniques, histopathology, hematoxylin and eosin stain, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
  • Experience in microbiology: culture and taxonomy identification of bacteria
  • Demonstrable experience in animal procedures.
  • Participation in competitive projects
  • Participation in scientific articles
  • Participation in workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Previous expertise in database, image, and statical software.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  • Selection of CV. Suitable and unsuitable CVs will be identified according to the requirements. Applicants who do not meet the criteria indicated in the candidate profile and conditions will not pass to the next phase.
  • Evaluation of the CV. Assessment of the CVs up to a maximum score of 40 points.

To access the interview phase, it is necessary to have obtained a minimum score of 30 points in the sum of curriculum scores.
