INTERPLAY encompasses the systematic study of the interaction between genetic variants associated with glycemia, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, dietary and lifestyle factors. A comprehensive analysis of gene-gene and gene-lifestyle interaction has been proposed, including existing international GWAS consortia. The information that will emerge from this project will provide valuable insights into the missing heritability for type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease.

THSExposure addresses some of the important gaps in our current understanding of the chemistry, toxicology, and exposure of thirdhand smoke (THS), including accurate characterization of THS composition and the development and validation of specific biomarkers in human urine for this exposure. The intention is to disseminate the results obtained in this study publicly as evidence of THS harm to influence current and future health education programs, especially targeting smoking parents, and current and future European health policies.
