Job description

The Pere Virgili Institute for Health Research (IISPV) is an institution that integrates research in the field of biomedicine in the “Camp de Tarragona” and the “Terres de l’Ebre”. The IISPV is the instrument that the university hospitals of both health regions have been endowed with (Joan XXIII University Hospital of Tarragona, Verge de la Cinta Hospital of Tortosa, Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital, Institut Pere Mata University Hospital of Reus) and Rovira and Virgili University, in order to bring together and manage biomedical research and innovation in the territory.

We offer a full-time contract as part of the project “PRENATAL: Innovative Analytical & Biomonitoring Methods to Characterize the Prenatal.”

Chemical Exposome” funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación with reference CNS2024-154379. The PRENATAL project is led by the collaboration of different groups of the IISPV and the University Rovira i Vigili, led by the Environmental Toxicology and Metabolomics group (https://temresearch.com), part of the Paediatrics, Nutrition and Human Development Research Unit (https://www.iispv.cat/es/grup/unitat-de-recerca-en-pediatria-nutricio-i-desenvolupament-huma-urpndh/).

The selected candidate will perform the following tasks:

  • Project Management.
  • Development of the analytical methodologies to determine the chemical exposome of prenatal samples, including maternal blood, cord blood and placenta.
  • Analysis of the prenatal exposome in samples from a cohort.
  • Exposome and clinical data processing and analysis.
  • Results dissemination: writing scientific papers, Communications in national/International conferences and social engagement activities

CANDIDATE PROFILE & REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in biochemistry, chemistry, and related fields
  • C1 English degree
  • Knowledge of R programming
  • Previous experience in chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  • Selection of CV’s. Suitable and unsuitable CV’s will be identified according to the requirements. Applicants who do not meet the requirements indicated in the candidate profile and requirements will not pass to the next phase.
  • Evaluation of the CV. Evaluation of the CVs up to a maximum score of 50 points.
  • Motivation Letter. Attached to the resume a motivation letter with a maximum length of 2500 characters with spaces. With a maximum score of 10 points.

To access the interview phase it is necessary to have obtained a minimum score of 35 points in the sum of scores of the evaluation of the curriculum and motivation letter

  • Personal interview. With a maximum score of 40 points.

Labor conditions

  • Full-time position
  • Workplace: IISPV Biomedical Research Labs, Hospital Sant Joan de Reus.
  • Contract: Indefinite of scientific-technical activities (linked to the project “PRENATAL: Innovative Analytical & Biomonitoring Methods to Characterize the Prenatal. Approximately, until 31st March 2027).
  • Gross annual salary: 22.000-24.000
  • Starting date: Beginning of June 2025
