Update Conference: “Supramesocolic Digestive Cancer, Hepatocarcinoma / Cholangiocarcinoma”

Department of Oncology at HUSJR and the Institut d’Investigació Sanitària Pere Virgili (IISPV)

Why is it important to talk about hepatocarcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma today?

Liver and bile duct cancer (hepatocarcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma) represents a growing public health burden worldwide. These are relatively rare tumors, but their incidence is increasing. They are associated with high mortality and are often diagnosed at advanced stages, which complicates their management. However, in recent years, significant advances have been made in their treatment, particularly with the arrival of immunotherapy and new systemic combinations.

The Update Conference on Supramesocolic Digestive Cancer, to be held on October 9, 2025, at the Sant Joan University Hospital in Reus, aims to update healthcare professionals on current therapeutic options for these tumors.

The program includes a review of treatment strategies for both hepatocarcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma, as well as the presentation of real clinical cases to encourage joint reflection and a multidisciplinary approach. A brief but intense space to better understand how treatment options have evolved for our patients and how we can apply this knowledge in daily practice.
