This activity is carried out within the framework of the project Beyond GO HERO (SLT028/23/000118), which has received funding under the action “Promotion of international R&D&I project units (Go Europe)” for the period 2023–2025, as part of the initiatives included in the “Strategic Plan for Health Research and Innovation 2022–2027” of the Department of Health of the Government of Catalonia.
The Platform of Patient Organizations (POP) is a non-profit entity that brings together patient organizations at the national level,
with the aim of uniting their voices and providing effective representation of the health and social care rights and needs shared
by people with chronic illnesses or long-term conditions, before the main stakeholders in the healthcare sector in Spain.
To promote participation and defend the rights of people with chronic health needs in all areas, policies, and actions that affect their lives,
in order to achieve their full inclusion and a better quality of life.
To be the voice ensuring that people with chronic health needs can access comprehensive and personalized care, under conditions of universal access,
equity, transparency, and sustainability.
Manuel Arellano holds a degree in Law and is a former business consultant. He is currently the 2nd Vice President of the Platform of Patient Organizations (POP),
and he is himself a kidney patient who has undergone two transplants. He is actively involved in improving the quality of life of people with chronic conditions or disabilities
through organizations such as POP, ALCER Navarra, National ALCER Federation, COCEMFE, CERMIN, and the European Patients’ Forum (EPF).
