AAL Ambient Assisted Living ( CALL 2014)

Organisme

Financiar proyectos que impliquen el desarrollo de soluciones basadas en las TIC que permitan la implementación de sistemas sostenibles de atención sanitaria centrada en el paciente, enfocada sobre todo a la asistencia y cuidado a largo plazo de ancianos.

Objecte

There is an increasing drive from the Governments to adopt ICT for care of older adults, and huge potential for technology to tap into market opportunities and unmet needs. Therefore, Call 2014 of the AAL JP aims at funding the development of ICT-based solutions which enable and support sustainable care systems for older adults, i.e. systems that are economically and socially viable for the future and which do not result in unfair or disproportionate impacts on any significant contributory element of the healthcare system.

Future trends for healthcare and long-term care spending across many industrialised countries suggest upward pressures on spending. Long-term care spending as a proportion of GDP could, on average across the OECD increase between two and fourfold by 2050. Much can be done to grow the private market and commercialise new concepts and systems to support formal and informal care for older people. Care provided through new communication systems represents a huge market potential, linking information, communication, financial and insurance systems to support care and self-care enabling people to look after themselves and motivate self-care through social interaction with peers.

The call targets new concepts necessary to ensure patient centred care with focus on older adults considering the growing importance of informal caregivers to deliver future care services and maximising the opportunity for technologies to support care and new providers to enter the market.

How can social care frameworks using existing neighbourhood resources increase society’s ability to monitor wellbeing at scale, whilst supporting informal carers and reinforcing community links? New solutions need to also support prevention, early discharges, reduce readmissions and sustain health outcomes to regain independent lifestyles.

It is anticipated that the call will be launched[1] at the end of March 2014, with a proposal submission deadline end June 2014.
