International Projects Unit

The promotion of the internationalisation of our research is one of the strategic objectives of the IISPV. The International Projects Unit (IPU) is the office responsible to ensure the delivery of these objectives through the coordination of all the international activities in the life science and health domains that take place in the Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre campus.

In particular, the IPU is responsible for the following:

1. Act as an advice and support service for our researchers on international funding programs.
2. Create and coordinate communities (including the URV) and institutional alliances at international level.
3. Attract international talent to the IISPV.

The IPU performs regular monitoring exercises of scientific indicators to ensure that the work that takes place at IISPV is aligned to the objectives set by the Director's office.

In collaboration with the departments of communications, innovation and training, the IPU guarantees that the work produced by IISPV researchers has the maximum international impact.

1. Advice and support service for researchers on international funding programs

The IPU promotes the internationalisation of our research groups through the participation on international programs, particularly within the Framework Program Horizon2020. The Unit realises the following tasks:

Regular scouting for funding opportunities and dissemination of international calls.
To act as a point of contact for international (private and public) financial agencies and the National Contact Points (NCPs).
To support Principal Investigators with the development of proposals.
To organise relevant dissemination and training events.
To organise mock interviews for the preparation of ERC interviews.

The IPU leads in all the IISPV, URV projects with international organisations where health and well-being are a key component.

2. Creation of communities  and alliances

At the IISPV we know that the most pressing challenges that the health sector is facing cannot be solved in isolation. Aware of the importance of collaborating with other external organisations, one of IISPV's priorites is the establishment of strategic alliances.

In 2017, the leadership teams of IISPV, IDIBGI and IRBLleida signed the agreement CATIONS for the collaboration among the international project units of the three institutes. This agreement aims to promote collaboratively the internationalisation of the three Institutes and to increase the visualisation of the scientific activity of our research community.

In addition, the IPU collaborates with the URV for the promotion of international projects in the life sciences and health domains at the Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre region.

3. Attract international talent at the IISPV

One of IISPV's priorities for growth is the attraction of international talent to the Institute. The recruitment of international researchers is key to foster an inter-cultural, enriching working environment and for the establishment of collaborations with other European institutions.

The IPU collaborates with researchers and the Institute for scouting of international talent. In particular, the IPU has experience in Marie Curie calls and the following researchers' selection process.
